Diaspora continues efforts to raise funds for project ‘Bye Bye Nyakatsi’

Thursday, August 26th, 2010 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINAFFET), the Rwandan Diaspora held a press conference to brief the general Rwandan public on the current situation of raising funds for the “Bye Bye Nyakatsi” project.

14 Heads of State for Presidential swearing-in

At least 14 Heads of State have so far confirmed they will attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Paul Kagame slated for September 6.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Louise Mushikiwabo, the 14 that have confirmed presence are mainly Africa leaders but many more are still coming in.

Government has put contingents of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) serving under UN-backed peacekeeping operations on standby for pull out, if the UN publishes a report alleging that Rwandan troops were involved in mass killings in the DRC between 1994 and 2003.

Diaspora team impresses Bugesera residents

A team of about twenty Rwandans living in the Diaspora yesterday visited Bugesera District and impressed residents with their ideas of eradicating grass thatched houses by helping them build modern houses.

The team visited sites where they intend to implement the “Bye Bye Nyakatsi” Project, which was initiated by the government in partnership with the Rwandan Diaspora

Jackie Mugabo, a Rwandan gospel artist based in England says it’s her turn to support the poor using her talent.

“I came to perform in the charity concert, to support the ‘Bye Bye Nyakatsi Project’, and raise funds to build modern houses for the deprived people in Bugesera District,” Jackie said.

Together with various local gospel artists, including Gabi Kamanzi and Aline Gahongaire, the songstress will entertain crowds in a concert that will be held at Serena Hotel, Kigali, on August 29—entrance fee is Rwf5000 and Rwf10, 000, VIP.

No Rwandan agents in Zimbabwe-Ngoga

The Prosecutor General Martin Ngoga yesterday dismissed reports by several Zimbabwean and Kenyan media that Rwandan secret agents had sneaked into Zimbabwe to arrest or kill genocide fugitives.

The reports suggested that Rwanda had deployed hit-men in the Southern African country after two most wanted fugitives Protais Mpiranya and Charles Bandora were spotted in Zimbabwe, but Ngoga said the allegations are “false and unfounded.”

Ramsey Simba, a Senior Under Officer was awarded the prestigious medals after a 1 year Commissioning Course in Leadership at the 300 year-old military Academy.

The military training was aimed at developing leadership in Cadets by expanding their character, intellect and professional competences to a level demanded of an Army Officer on first appointment.
